How can you tell if a guy is shy?

well he doesn't talk a lot, careful of the Words that comes out of his mouth sometimes he would apologize for the slightest thing he thinks that made you feel uncomfortable, can't look directly to your eyes when you talk to him and smile pretty often though looking somewhere else... stuttering laughs out suddenly for no funny reason (it's kind of defense mechanism, girls should know it)
