What did the Aztecs do to the invaders?

The Aztecs believed that the invaders were gods because of their shining armor and strange weapons. However, the Aztec leader,Montezuma the second, discovered that they were not gods and attacked them. The Aztecs pushed the invaders back but were soon crushed by the invaders cannons. Montezuma was captured and put to death soon after.
