Why did the colonists stage the Boston Tea Party?

1) We were under Britain / United Kingdom rule back then

2) The people here were pissed cause Britain was taxing us on everything and not representing us properly back in Britain.

So basically they were taking our tax dollars and not doing anything for us. Kind of like how our government operates now except they were taking even less back then.
