Why it is important to wear gloves in aged care?

Gloves are important personal protective equipment (PPE) for all health care workers, as human blood unfortunately can carry a wide number of very unpleasant diseases that can infect the health care provider. Also, the gloves keep you from accidentally infecting your patient with bacteria present on your skin - the elderly do not have as strong of immune systems and are sometimes further weakened by chronic diseases.
