The Roman Kingdom began as a small settlement in Latium and is recognizable in the Bronze age (2000-1000BC), a distinct culture begins to be recognizable in the Proto-Villanovan period (1200-900BC), said to be marked by the arrival of the Etruscans North of Rome. The Roman culture develops throughout the Iron/Villanovan age (1000-580BC) which is broken down into 4 periods (Latial I, II, III, IV). There is argument about when exactly the Roman Kingdom ends/Republic begins, but it is either 507BC or 509BC and is marked by the expulsion of Tarquinius Priscus (the last king).
