Why does our society send the old people to old folks' homes?

Senior citizens get sent to "old folks' homes" so they can be taken care of. Once they get to that point where they can't walk, or do pretty much anything on their own, they need help. It's either send them to the senior centers or leave them to suffer on their own. When they are in the senior centers, they get to be with fellow senior citizens and make new friends. It keeps them busy and there is always a nurse or doctor checking up on them if they are taking all of their medications and what not. They need help because they just can't do it all on their own. They deserve a good life too so they don't suffer by living on their own when they can't take care of themselves.
