Can some one who has a loss of hearing due to an injury be a candidate for cochlear implant?

I know a girl who was born with a loss of hearing in one of her ears and had ear surgery done so that now she can hear.

I think it would be possible to get a cochlear implant/transplant if one has been damaged but it also depends on how much damage was done during the injury. I would ask a doctor for accurate answers.
