What year was the Lockerbie disaster?

Pan Am Flight 103 went down on the 21st of December in 1988. A bomb destroyed the Boeing 747 above the city of Lockerbie in Scotland. The 243 passengers, 16 crew members and 11 inhabitants of Lockerbie died this day.

The Lockerbie bombing, with 180 American citizen victims, was the deadliest attack against the US until the 9/11 hijackings. It is generally regarded as a retaliatory strike for the downing of an Iranian Air Airbus A300 earlier in the year. Iran Air Flight 655 went down after being hit by a guided missile fired by the USS Vincennes, killing 290 people, with 66 of them being children. A link can be found below.
