Who gave us the gift of the sacrament of reconciliation on Easter Sunday?

The gift of the sacrament of reconciliation, or confession, was given to the apostles by Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, as described in the Gospel of John (20:22-23). After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples, breathed on them, and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." This moment established the authority of the Church to forgive sins and provided a means for believers to seek reconciliation with God.
