A moral holiday is a holiday from morals. An occassion, a ritual, a time of year, etc. when the many of the common rules & laws that are enforced and punished are ignored and relaxed. Mardi Gras is probably the best example. Public displays of nudity, public intoxication, etc. would not be tolerated, but during Mardi Gras these laws and punishments are relaxed. Some cultures have festivals and rituals when the rules of, for instance marital fidelity, are relaxed. Other examples in our culture might be: bachelor/bachelorette parties, block parties, party areas in a town or on a lake where the police avoid unless a major crime is committed, and even tailgating might be considered a moral holiday.
