Well, until the advent of indoor Plumbing, or even outdoor "privys" at frontier homes, they 'used' the bathroom just like everybody else for millions of years had done...outside. Apart from some early attempts at public sanitation in ancient Rome and some other civilizations, we humans have 'done it in the woods' for millions of years, far longer than we've been doing it on porcelain toilets, and when you get right down to it, the percentage of the Earth's population that still 'does it in the woods' is greater than the 'porcelain pilots'...in other Words, most people still dont have proper indoor sanitation.
