The communist manifesto was not meant to be an in depth document, but more of a brief introduction to communism and its core beliefs.
Marx believed that sometime within his lifetime (or right after it) there would be a communist revolution, and thus ending classes. However, later communists, such as Hobson and Lennin, came up with the idea that capitalist nations were able to hold off the revolution by giving small appeasements to the people.
