How do you remove the thermostat on a 1997 grand am 2.4 engine?

the lower radiator hose is connected to a pipe that runs under the oil pan, its bolted to the side ot the block, there are two bolts, 10mm holding on the t stat houseing if you remove these two bolts you will find the t stat, it only goes in one way. it has a rubber gasket, if you remove the eahuast heat sheild, and look down through the manifold you can see the bolts and can get to them from the top with a long extention, hope this helps
