he ecological validity, the participants got sufficiently involved to react naturally, this is called experimental realism and is important part of achieving ecological validity. Participants are in there long enough to forget they are being watched and show their true emotions.

-Researchers defend their study and said that it would be difficult to act for nearly 9 days, it would have also been hard to fake psychometric and psychological data that was gathered on a regular basis.

-The participants were not real prisoners or guards, because participants were on national TV they may have been faking their behaviours.

-it is widely accepted that the study was stopped before things turned nasty. On a whole the study avoided many ethical issues, however there was a lot of aggression and there was a lot of tension.
