no, my son had to take his out for a pe lesson after one week and part of it had healed in that short amount of time. He had to pop the skin to get the ring through his lip again, massive pain. He did not do pe again for a couple of months, much to the annoyance of the teachers.
Most lip rings are in the shape of a hoop and have a ball as a closure. Simply take the ball off and gently work the space in the hoop to the hole. (if the ring is too small you may have to bend the hoop a bit to make it larger)
