Lexington, Yorktown, Hornet, Indianapolis, Houston, Princeton, Juneau, Repulse, Prince of Wales, Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, Hiryu, Mikuma, Mogami, Yamato, Graf Spee, etc. Just about every warship that sank during WW 2 sank in shark infested waters. You perhaps thinking of the ship that carried a cup shaped piece of uranium 235 to the atomic bomb "Little Boy" on the island of Tinian July 1945. This was delivered, the ship then headed for operations in the Philipines but was torpedoed 4 days later without sending an s.o.s.,3 day's passed before Pearl noticed it was missing, 800 men managed to abandon ship and spent 84 hours in the water facing thirst, fatigue and worst of all, sharks. Out of the crew of 1200, only 316 were picked up alive. That ship was the former flagship of Admiral Ray Spruance, the U.S.S. Indianapolis.
