What should an officer look for while on patrol at a residential building?

There are any number of things one watches for when on a routine neighborhood patrol.

To mention just a few:

-Suspicious persons, events and circumstances

-Known offenders

-Gang members

-Persons at risk or in distress

-Traffic infractions

-Insecure properties

-Hazards to public safety

-Anything out of the ordinary

-Wanted persons

-Stolen vehicles

When on foot or on a bicycle, police officers are also often engaged in simply making a presence felt, by talking to members of the community and getting to know area residents and businesses.
