First, the work involves the examination of dead bodies. Simply getting TO the body can be dangerous, depending on the cause of death (they are not all deaths by violence). Next is the hazard of contagious diseases. These can include TB, Hepatitis, AIDS, Plague, strep and staph infections. There are chemical hazards in many of the chemicals used in the labs, and electrical hazards with some of the machinery used. There is also an everyday mechanical hazard in having to move the weight of a body, and the emotional hazards of dealing with dead people, and their families.
