In the Giver chapter one why are children scolded for telling friends during play that they've been released?

No one other than the person getting released and the person releasing is allowed in the rooms. My guess would be that they did not want the community to know what was going on, even though if they saw it they wouldn't know what was happening ( everyone besides the Giver and the Receiver does not have the memories of death and killing to be able to process it). It could also be a design to reveal to us that the people were being killed later in the story to get more emotion out of us and add more depth to the story.
