How do you change oil in a 2001 Mercury 115 hp outboard motor?

The oil drain plug is located on the lower left side of the motor just above the anti-cavitation plate. Remove the plug and be careful, cause the oil will pour out rapidly causing a mess if your not ready with a container to catch the oil.

Once the oil is drained, install drain plug and remove the cover from the top of the motor. Remove the old oil filter, which is located on the right side of the motor. Install new oil filter and refill the crankcase with 5 quarts of new 10w-30 motor oil. The oil fill plug is the yellow plug located on the back side of the motor. Make sure the motor is level and check to make sure oil is at the proper level on the dip stick.

Install the cover over the motor, lock it down, and you should be good to go until the next oil change is due.
