Percy Mahendra "Mahinda" Rajapaksa was the President of Sri Lanka in 2007. He became the 6th President of Sri Lanka on 2005 November 19, and was re-elected in 2010.

Having a political family, Mahinda Rajapaksa joined politics early, getting elected to Parliament in 1970 at the age of 24. He served as leader of the Opposition from 2001 - 2004, before becoming Prime Minister from 2004 April 6 to 2005 November 19.
