What happened on Earth because Persephone was kidnapped?

Well from what I remember from the story I read,Persephone's mother Demeter,who was the god of harvest and seasons and stuff,had gotten the chance to see Persephone for 6 months and is happy,which is why we have Summer and Spring,then she must return to the underworld,in which at this time Demeter is sad and angry, that's why we have Fall and Winter,and why we have a change in seasons
