Why did Mao Zedong failed to win American support because?

To be put simply, Mao could not win the support of America due to China being communist and America wanting at all costs not to become Communist, so they pulled out all contact with China. Even during the civil war in China, America was supporting the Nationalists, as they were that desperate for China not to become a communists country.
