Where did avocados originate form?

The species of avocado has three races.

Mexican - small and thin skinned. High oil content.

Guatemalen - thick skinned

West Indian - actually from Central America. Large, smooth, thick skin.Low oil content.

Indians in these areas cultivated and selected certain ones for desirable qualities, and the work of doing so has gone on around the world since then.
