How do you treat a horse abcess on face?

My pony recently had an abcess on his left jaw. I called the vet immediately to ensure this was not anything more serious (strangles etc)

He was prescibed Danilon (pain killer/anti inflammatory) and a short course of oral anti biotics. After 5 days the abscess popped on his own and he is now getting it cleaned daily.

I would suggest getting your vet down for a look to ensure there are no underlying causes (bad tooth etc) and keeping it as clean as possible.
