How does society view smoking?

The illnesses caused by smoking (and also by alcohol abuse) put an unnecessary strain on health resources, and raise the costs of medical care.

Many children also have to put up with their parents smoking around them.

You can notice that while many people put other people's interests before their own, a lot of smokers don't.
