Captain Robert Falcon Scott was a British naval officer and explorer known for his expeditions to Antarctica. He led two major Antarctic expeditions: the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) and the ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913). During the latter, he and his team famously reached the South Pole in January 1912, only to find that Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen had beaten them there. Tragically, Scott and his companions perished on the return journey due to extreme weather conditions and lack of supplies, but their legacy has contributed significantly to the history of polar exploration.
