When was the first counterfeit bill made?

when private state banks issued bills it was estimated that one third of all US bills were counterfeit made with presses that was the reason why 16th President Abraham Lincoln set up the secret service in July 1865.

Nowdays counterfeits are easily spot able and you can rely on the watermark, security thread and colour shifting inks. In those days counterfeiting was easy because US Bills did not have the sophisticated security features that they have now days. Unless they are super dollars which are made in North Korea and are almost impossible for ordinary cashiers to detect.
