Like any seal or gasket, when you have a tramendious amount of presure that is constantly trying to escape, over time that seal or gasket, locking in the presure, will get old and start to allow leaks. This is from the constant fluctuation in temperature. Once a small leak occurs it will only get worse until you replace it
