What is the difference between age of majority and age of consent in terms of an 18 year old simply just dating a 16 year old?

well, the age of majority means that by law you can do certain things, buy alcohol, drive etc, the age of consent is the age of which the law deems you to have enough common sense to understand a situation, and depending on where you live an 18 yr old dating a 16 yr old is considered stautory rape and the 18 yr old can go to jail! however, most places in North America deem the age of consent to be 16 so you should be fine
