How can you adjust a spreadsheet to fit?

First select the entire worksheet. You can do that by clicking on the box which is above the number for row 1 and to the left of the letter for Column A, just off the actual sheet. You could also do it by pressing the Ctrl key and holding it and then pressing the space bar, and then press one of the Shift keys and holding it and then pressing the space bar. Then go to the border between the A above column A and the B above column B, until the mouse pointer changes to a bar with an arrow pointing to the left and one pointing to the right. Then double click it. You could also go to the Format menu, pick Column and then Autofit Selection. You could also use that approach if you had just selected the actual data in your spreadsheet, as opposed to the entire worksheet.
