How did Uranus lose his power?

Gaia told Cronus to cut off the genitals of Uranus.

^ This answer bugged me since it is so vague.

You probably know that Uranus cast his children into the Tartarus. The Tartarus is in the deepest bowels of the Earth(Gaea/Gaia; doesn't matter which way you spell it). This caused Gaea, Uranus' wife an incredible amount of pain. In an effort to soothe the unending pain, she requested one of her children to castrate Uranus. Cronus accepted the task, and his mother gave him an adamantine sickle to cut of Uranus' genitals. That is how Cronus overthrew his father, Uranus.
