What is the difference in 22 mag and 22 hornet?

A .22 Mag is a Rimfire cartridge(which means the firing pin in your gun strikes the rim of the case that only has priming compound and no powder and ignites,so its a short burst of pressure).The .22 Hornet is a Centerfired Cartridge(which means it has a primer and powder)and is more powerful due to the bullet is propelled using higher pressure for a longer amount of time...The .22 Mag is cheaper to shoot...
