Which side should you turn a patient to to prevent aspiration?

To prevent aspiration, a patient should be turned onto their side, preferably the left side. This position helps facilitate drainage of any secretions and reduces the risk of aspiration into the lungs, as the anatomy of the esophagus and trachea makes it less likely for contents to enter the airway when positioned this way.
