Why is high eritrosendimentation?

High erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) indicates inflammation in the body. It occurs when proteins such as fibrinogen are elevated in the blood, causing red blood cells to clump together and settle faster. This can be associated with various conditions, including infections, autoimmune diseases, and some cancers. However, ESR is a nonspecific test and should be interpreted in conjunction with other clinical findings.
