Why do they call hot dogs wienies?

Hot Dogs are also called Wiener dogs, because 'Wien' is the German name for Vienna. Vienna is the home to Vienna sausages, which are made of a mixture of beef and pork. However, in Austria these days, the hot dog is most commonly called a Frankfurter.
