Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is primarily associated with genital herpes and is typically transmitted through sexual contact rather than kissing. However, it is possible to transmit HSV-2 to the oral area through oral-genital contact. While kissing someone with an active oral herpes outbreak (usually caused by HSV-1) poses a risk, the likelihood of contracting HSV-2 through kissing alone is very low.
