First, write a nine (9) about twice the size you're going to write the numbers in the fractions. Then, imagine a line in the nine horizontally. Write a seven (7) on the top half of that line. Then draw that line under the seven, and ONLY under that seven. Under the written line, write a ten (10). Now, hopefully, your mixed number should look something like this:
