What are the duties of a pharmacist?

Here are some of the duties of a pharmacist:

• making sure that the correct prescription has been given to the patient
• checking prescriptions to be sure that the drug is safe for the patient (age, disease state, Allergies, etc)
• making sure the dosage of medicine is correct for the patient
• making sure that the right patient gets the right medication
• making sure that the patient understands how to take their medication, what the side effects may be, and what to expect from the medication
• making sure that the pharmacy is kept clean, neat, and organized
• filing insurance claims
• leading a team of technicians
• contacting doctors and nurses to insure that medication is correct
• contacting patients to insure that they pick up their medication on time
• filling prescriptions
