Use an electric mixer at medium-high speed to MASH the butter until it is creamy. Slowly add in the sugar until the frosting looks smooth. Add in the vanilla and 2 Tbsp. milk. You can add in a bit more milk if the consistency isn't quite what you're looking to achieve. If you decide to do that, make sure to do it slowly so you don't end up with runny, liquid frosting.
