What can you use to strike a match?

To strike a match, you typically use the rough surface of the matchbox or a designated striking strip found on the side of the box. The friction generated when you swipe the match head against this surface ignites the chemicals in the match head, producing a flame. Some matches can also be struck against other rough surfaces designed for ignition, such as certain types of sandpaper.
