What is in the upper region of the mesosphere?

The upper region of the mesosphere, which extends from about 50 to 85 kilometers (31 to 53 miles) above Earth's surface, is characterized by decreasing temperatures with altitude, reaching the coldest temperatures in the atmosphere, around -90 degrees Celsius (-130 degrees Fahrenheit). This layer is where most meteoroids burn up upon entering Earth's atmosphere, producing meteors.
