Janenschia is an extinct genus of large sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period in what is now Tanzania. It is known primarily from fragmentary remains, including vertebrae and limb bones, which suggest it was a massive, herbivorous dinosaur. Janenschia is considered part of the family BrachiOSauridae, characterized by long necks and large bodies, and it is named in honor of the paleontologist Werner Janensch. Its discovery has contributed to the understanding of sauropod diversity and evolution in prehistoric ecosystems.
