Blinds are both convenient and attractive. They can let a person allow sunlight into a room with the simple twist of a knob or the pull of a string. They also come in many designs that can accent a room and make a home beautiful.

However, blinds, in part due to their mechanical design, can also get easily damaged. Blinds that get damaged can be very ugly. Many people, however, may not know how to make repairs to different kinds of blinds due to the mechanics and parts involved. Repairing blinds, though, can be very easy. If you have venetian blinds installed in your house, here a few easy to follow instructions to repair them in case they do some day get damaged.

The first step is to lower the damaged blind. Use the tilt cord to move the slats so they are facing the open position. Next, reach up and unclip the damaged blind. Once it is unclipped, remove it from the bracket. You should now take it to a clean, flat surface you can lay it down on while you make repairs.

Next, take off the end caps and then remove cover from the lower rail. This allows you see any clips or knots that are used fasten the bottom and top of the ladder tape and lift cord. This will also be the case if string ladders are used.

If the ladders are damaged, you will probably want to replace them. Do this first, by disconnecting them. If you are not going to replace them, instead disconnect the bottom and top of the two lift cords. They should be fastened to the rail.

Now you have to take the two lift cords and pull them in upwards motion so they go through the slats. Pull as far as you need to remove any part that is damaged so you can feed ones that are not damaged back on the ladders. Next, take the cords and thread them downwards to where you can fasten them onto the bottom part of the rail. The only other thing you have to do is add back the end caps as well as the cover. Now just simply put everything back in place on your blinds, and you will be done.
