How did race divide Latin American society?

Race divided Latin American society because Spanish colonists divided people based on race. In other Words, they came up with a Caste System based on classification of race and race mixture. Some of the races were 'mulatto' and 'mestizo' . Mestizos were people that were part Spanish and part Native American. They worked as mine and plantation supervisors. They had important jobs, however, they were very poorly paid and barely had political powers. But the black people had it worse, many blacks were enslaved. They just had very unfair social rights. While the blacks were enslaved the Native Americans lived in abject poverty. Latin American society was very unfair when it came to peoples rights due to their race.
