Can people contact with the dead?

I believe they can. There is even an instance in the Old Testament (Kings I) in which King Saul speaks with the deceased prophet Samuel. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle also believed that contact with the dead was possible, but his friend Harry Houdini did not.
