In contrast, white fat, or white adipose tissue, primarily serves as an energy reserve, storing excess nutrients in the form of triglycerides. While brown fat is more metabolically active and contributes to energy expenditure, white fat plays a critical role in energy balance and insulation. Together, they help regulate body weight and temperature.
