Pharmacoepidemiology is the study of how drugs are used and their effects in large study groups. As new treatments are made available through research and technology, they need to be tested on study groups to gauge their efficacy and safety, as well as optimal dosage. Pharmacoepidemiology brings together various specialties of medicine such as epidemiology, biOStatistics, health services research, and the Social Sciences. Together they evaluate the effectiveness of existing and new treatments.
