Jan van Eyck had at least one known brother, Hubert van Eyck, who was also a painter and is believed to have been a significant influence on Jan's work. Hubert is often credited with helping to establish the early Northern Renaissance style. While Jan's artistic contributions are well-documented, much less is known about Hubert's life and works, as only a few pieces are attributed to him. Their relationship and collaborative efforts are thought to have played a crucial role in the development of Flemish painting.
