Was the Hudson's Bay Company British or French?

Trick Question! The Hudson Bay Fur Company was founded in 1670 by two French men, Pierre Radisson and Medard Chouart. The two tried to gain support by the French government but failed and eventually turned to the British government. They received charter from King George II and then set up headquarters in London.
